Abstract:
We present a toolkit which provides synchronized e-learning content (video and slides) from lectures, with minimal or zero post-processing effort and no special installation requirements from lecture rooms. SeLCont (Synchronized eLearning Content) was developed at the NETMODE (Network Management & Optimal Design) laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens. The final output is dynamically adjusted to any browser regardless of the device or Operating System. It centers on WordPress CMS, with adjustable HTML5 Web pages of lecture material like PowerPoint presentations with or without annotations, PDF (Portable Document Format) files or Internet screens, synchronized with video or audio. Video or audio can be stored on YouTube (or any video provider) and reproduced via the popular JWPlayer.

The synchronization process consists of three steps:
1. Lecture Delivery & Recording,
2. Post-processing,
3. Publishing the e-learning content.

SeLCont will be provided as a service in the Up2U (Up2University) ecosystem. Up2U is a collaborative project which tries to bridge the gap effectively between secondary and higher education and improve integration between formal and informal learning for secondary school students. As a matter of fact, Up2U project needs to draw together a wide range of tools and infrastructure to present an integrated platform in which they all work together in the service of appropriate pedagogical models and learning outcomes. Up2U Learning Platform will be implemented with Moodle and SeLCont will be integrated on this platform as a WordPress Multisite (a network of sites) via LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) standard. LTI makes it possible to connect learning systems such as a LMS with external service tools in a standard way across learning systems. On this deployed WordPress Multisite teachers or preferably schools can create their own sites on demand and upload their synchronized content.
