Abstract:

This paper presents a software tool for interactive visualization and analyzing of real data from the supplementary pension insurance funds in Bulgaria, developed by a team from Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski". It is created using the Shiny package by RStudio, which provides a powerful framework for building web apps using R code. The application includes features for graphical and tabular presentation of time series data extracted from MySQL database and statistical methods for their analysis. The user-friendly interface, the simplified functionalities, the step-by-step manuals, and the ready-made examples included in it make the application suitable for educational purposes. It can be used in teaching statistics to students majoring in "Telecommunications with Management" (Bachelor's degree) and "Investment Management in Telecommunications" (Master's degree) at Plovdiv University. The paper presents two illustrative examples of using the app for visualization and analysis of insured persons and accumulated funds in pension funds in Bulgaria by gender and age groups.

The research team plans to enrich the application with new data sets, additional statistical methods, and student tutorials in the future.
