Abstract:
Informatics as field of science can be considered relatively young among the others. Informatics and the methodology of teaching informatics develops continuously to this day. The rapid change is one of the main reasons why there is no generally accepted approach to teach informatics. Computer science and informatics tend to expand and blend with other fields of science. This demands specialists who are capable to use their skills and knowledge to find solutions to the current problems, overcome challenges of the real-world implementation and further improve the existing digital technology. We believe that adequate quality IT education helps to overcome the steep learning path of informatics and contributes to the intristic learning process.

In order to draw as accurate conclusions as possible the authors taken into account the Hungarian and Slovak (ISCED3) educational framework. The literature review of selected books and articles of the topic with regional requirements in mind provided customized option to consider. The aim of this research is to examine the tasks and possibilities of IT education based on the current teaching methods and approaches. In addition, these forms of education are evaluated from the perspective of traditional-, modern- and distance- learning as well. Choosing the right approach can be beneficial for teachers and students alike. Based on the chosen region’s high school educational framework we attempt to provide practical recommendations on which topics to pair with specific approaches. To acquire more applicable information the research overlays the opportunities of the chosen field and the mandatory requirements of the educational system and gives suggestions on the future development of high school IT and CS education in the mentioned region.
