Abstract:
Introduction:
Sexual violence against children and teenagers is a grave social and health problem that affects all classes, ethnicities and genders, and especially children and teens who find themselves in situations of vulnerability. One way of confronting this problem is spreading information which helps in finding prevention strategies, as well as the identification of any signs that someone has been through sexual violence and the sending of complaints on these cases. The pedagogical teaching materials play this role through the use of information and language that is accessible to various audiences.
Purpose:
This research seeks to know more about the production of pedagogical teaching materials on abuse and sexual exploitation aimed at the prevention of sexual violence against children and teenagers in Brazil.
Methods:
The methodology used was the Systematic Literature Review in which, from the use of terms that describe relevance, sought to identify bibliographic material that is important to reach the objectives on the main databases in the area of education and health (SciELO, Bireme and the “Biblioteca Virtual emSaúde”, or Virtual Health Library), as well as on NGO’s websites which act in the combat of sexual violence against children and teenagers. And thus, these were the terms utilized: booklets and sexual violence; teaching material and sexual violence; pedagogical support and sexual violence; publications and sexual violence; orientation videos and sexual violence. The productions and materials found were mapped and described in list, source, type and year from a structured script.
Results:
Sixty-five (65) publications were found which, after screening for the pertinence of their contents, resulted in 50 identified materials, from booklets, videos and guides. The identification process of the types noted the prevalence of materials in video (62%), followed by booklets (30%) and guides (8%). The means found for each of these items produced encompassed several resources, those being conceptual, didactic and informative in nature. Regarding the institution or agency which produced these materials, forty-one (41) authors were found, and the same author could have participated in the production of several materials or one material could have had several authors.
Conclusion:
The production of teaching materials in this area finds itself being distributed in a diffused way, and would benefit greatly from careful analysis when it comes to its contents and its scope since it is of great relevance that it makes itself known by the several segments of society which act in the combat against sexual violence against children and teenagers to stimulate future pedagogical publications in the area. To look at this kind of material in a more careful way is to look at the way we communicate about sexual violence, and it is from this perspective that new ways of approaching this theme will be built, towards a way of prevention that is increasingly closer to the daily life of kids, teens, parents, relatives, educators and social agents in general. Keywords:
