Abstract:
The main objective of the course "Social, political and economic problems of Mexico" of the National Preparatory School Number 7, of the UNAM, is to develop in the students the capacity to analyze, reflect and evaluate the economic, political and social reality of Mexico. To this end, various theoretical frameworks are reviewed to provide students with tools that allow them to interpret the information available and, in this way, form democratic, tolerant and supportive citizens who learn to live with the cultural diversity that has become a globalized phenomenon at present. In particular, for the study of the migration phenomenon, students need to be able to analyze it under different theoretical frameworks (migration theories) that allow them to understand the economic, political, and social consequences in their environment. In this way, it is of great importance that students at the high school level receive an education directed towards tolerance and recognition of the other, under the present-day multicultural and intercultural reality.

This paper describes the design of a didactic sequence that focuses on the topic of migration, using a series of didactic strategies aimed at developing Information Management Competence (IMC), critical thinking and collaborative work. For the adequate development of the proposal, different ICTs were used to support the different activities. The initial research on the subject of migration is based on the Gavilan Method, the students are organized in teams, and the indications are published through the Google Classroom; this activity is based on a series of questions about cultural diversity and the importance of the migration phenomenon in the place where they live. As a result of the research, students must critically and objectively analyze their investigation, to generate their interpretation of the phenomenon using a synoptic table, which is later discussed with the whole group class. Finally, with the understanding of migration theories, a concrete problem is analyzed, the migrant caravans, a phenomenon that has occurred since October 2018 in Mexico. Using the "The collaborative wall" application, a technology that allows participants to share in real-time texts and images to the same common space, students will explain the migrant caravans from a specific theoretical framework, which will allow the comparison of each team's interpretation of the phenomenon from different theories.

Through the development of the activity, students were provided with information that they reviewed, analyzed, reflected on, and linked to a real problem. In the closing discussion of the sequence, they were able to formulate solutions with a critical and objective attitude, analyzing the economic, political, and social consequences that migration caravans generate in Mexico.
