Abstract:
This paper provides information about the foreign and Russian experience of translator training and highlights the main problems in this area: students often do not acquire specialization in subject areas during the training course; they know little about information technologies in the translation process; they are unable to plan their work and predict the results.

This paper describes a general scheme of practical translator training lesson and different types of home assignment as well as the translation training course structure. The main goal consists in developing a certain translation strategy for working with the text, regardless of its type. We also describe the implementation of the presented recommendations in the course of technical translation for third year students.

We believe that these recommendations will help make learning process closer to the real work of a professional translator and prepare graduates for the labour market demands.
