Abstract:
Globally, libraries and information centres are faced with the evolving hi-tech innovation, a revolutionary novel trend which has altered knowledge sharing practices among information professionals of these involving technological products is known as Social Media. Social media has made collaboration and knowledge sharing among librarians much easier, efficient and answering users quarries fasters and seamlessly.

In spite numerous benefits in using social media in sharing knowledge among librarians, the degree to which university libraries in Nigeria are incorporating it for knowledge sharing practices is yet to be empirically established. It is on this note that this study set out to find out the use of social media tools for knowledge sharing among library staff in university libraries in Nigeria.

The specific objectives are to: investigate how library staff use Social Media for knowledge sharing within their professional networks; establish librarians’ familiarity with social media tools; ascertain how library staff use Social Media for interaction and exchange information with library clienteles and challenges in the use of Social media for knowledge sharing.

The study will adopt a descriptive survey. The research population will include all library Staff in University libraries in Ogun State, Nigeria. A semi-structured questionnaire will be the major instrument for data collection. The data will be reported in descriptive statistics and Statistical Software Package for Social Science (SPSS) will be used for data analysis.
