Abstract:
Based on a project currently being developed at the University of the Basque Country, this study describes and analyzes the use of films in the teaching-learning process of communicational skills in Medicine.
Our project’s target is to encourage the learning and self-knowledge, of empathy and communication skills of first year medical students. So, teachers leading the subject of Medical Psychology enhance the use of films in the Medical curriculum with those first year students, just to introduce to them the fundamental aspects of the medical profession, using cinema as a “window” of human life. The main objective of the project is to develop knowledge of how simulation and modelling can be utilised as a pedagogical method to implement medical education and make students experience initial training situations and participate in better learning outcomes.
Some of the benefits of this methodology are the opportunity to experience different situations and the feeling of emotions, taking advantage of the growing interest of the audio-visual media for the youth. Keywords:
