Abstract:
During the last decade, entrepreneurship has occupied an increasingly important place in the agenda of industrialized countries and emerging economies, due to the general consensus about capacity to boost employment and income generation; However, in the Latin American context there is still a low incidence of high-impact or quality enterprises in terms of economic and social benefits generated from these projects. Similarly, the study of sustainable entrepreneurship and its promotion among government agencies or institutions of higher education is scarce. Based on the foregoing, this study is based on the analysis of the concept of sustainable entrepreneurship, based on the review of specialized literature. Subsequently, the results of the application of a questionnaire focused on measuring the perception of professors and students of a faculty of the administrative economic area of a public university in southeastern Mexico about the promotion of practices that promote the sustainability of entrepreneurship and the importance of that potential entrepreneurs give to this topic within their projects. Based on exploratory research and the use of descriptive statistics, the results reflect a favorable trend in terms of the diffusion of entrepreneurship from a traditional perspective but not the concept of sustainable entrepreneurship. Similarly, there is a low assessment by future entrepreneurs regarding this issue from the operational point of view.
