Abstract:
According to international organizations like OECD and UNESCO, higher education plays an essential role to enhance the formation of better trained individual who can fulfill labor market demands. Nevertheless, nowadays these are facing new challenges due to higher specialization required by enterprises and public administration and the scarcity of labor demand. Then, the traditional university model has evolved to a new one in which entrepreneurship is one of its main concerns and is named “entrepreneurial university”. Due to this, it is relevant to identify if Mexican universities are turning to this model through educational programs, teaching practices, infraestructure, among other relevant variables. This study aims to identify if Universidad Veracruzana has the characteristic elements of an entrepreneurial university, for which an exploratory and descriptive study was developed, in which students, professors and authorities were considered. It was found that Universidad Veracruzana has addopted many features from this model, but better promotion strategies could enhance results in this area.
