Abstract:
At the end of 2019 in Wuhan, China, there were the first contagions of corona virus, which would later become known as the Covid-19 pandemic, gradually spread throughout the world. In the first quarter of 2020, the first cases were reported in the American continent, which caused uncertainty in the population, which soon had to adapt to a new lifestyle.

In the educational field, a completely virtual education was introduced, where teachers and students adapted to new methodologies and ways of studying. In the field of communication, ignorance and misinformation also prevailed. In this context, the need arose to educate citizens about the prevention and coexistence of Covid-19.

Taking into account this background, the project entitled: "Attention to information and communication needs to coexist with Covid-19. Best practices for a conscious and responsible city" was proposed, with the participation of students and teachers of different subjects of the communication career of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja- Ecuador.

The objective of the project was focused on the students applying the knowledge acquired in their different classes, through the real implementation of their skills and the development of a state of the art research, to understand the existing communication gaps in the population of young people aged 18 to 31 years, with respect to Covid-19.

For this research, the application of a mixed quantitative and qualitative methodology was considered, where a random sample survey was applied to collect information from the selected age group (18 to 31 years of age). The instrument was developed through the ArcGIS Survey123 tool to be applied virtually, with a questionnaire of 31 questions, which responded to four variables: sociodemographic data, use and consumption of technology, knowledge of Covid-19 and vaccination. The research instrument was answered by 618 people from different cities in Ecuador.

Based on the information collected and analyzed, a communication campaign was developed that included the proposal and creation of several communication resources in different formats and media: audiovisual, journalistic, digital, advertising, which allowed to achieve the objective and raise awareness among the population regarding the prevention and coexistence of Covid-19.
