Abstract:
International regulations for seafarer training in the field of human element leadership and management is divided in two levels: operational level and management level. The overall aim is to provide masters and officers with the necessary knowledge, understanding and proficiency to safely and efficiently manage the ship’s resources and personnel.

An appropriate approved simulator training/assessment may be utilized when is fitted with navigation aids and equipment for deck officers and captains candidates. The use of simulators provides in the learning process interactive teaching methods to achieve the objectives and related standards of competence and to identify the levels of knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the examinations and assessments required under these criteria.

In this work we will explain the differences in simulator practices for learning objectives and outcomes between the two cited levels.
