Abstract:
The information society is connected with a new kind of requirements on the knowledge level and information technology skills. The intensive use of tools of information technology in education helps to develop students' skills such as critical thinking, flexible decision-making, manage unexpected situations, effective communication etc. The study subject “Mathematics” has a place in the education of economists and managers, who are preparing for their future career at the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. Therefore, it is essential that teachers coming into educational practice should have pedagogical skills to develop students' potential.

In this paper we will analyze the knowledge level and skills of students in the context of usage of graphical and computational tools of information technology in mathematics. We will apply methods of mathematical statistics and questionnaire survey to achieve research results. The main objective is to find the intersection of skills and knowledge within the selected areas of mathematics and computer science. In the discussion we will focus on the possibilities for the increasing of the efficiency of university studies and the improvement of students study outcomes.
