Abstract:
The practice of architecture profession often adopts a collaborative approach. However, architectural education in many developing countries has gradually deviated from this norm as independent learning is widely adopted. This study explores cooperative learning in Architectural training from the students’ perspective. Consequently, the paper aims to determine in a gendered manner, students’ perceptions of cooperative learning, its current status, benefits and factors militating against cooperative learning. The study adopts both quantitative research method using a structured survey questionnaire and qualitative research method using interview guide. Respondents are drawn from postgraduate students of Architecture in selected Nigerian universities. Data collected will be analysed using SPSS package and content analysis and presented descriptively and graphically. Findings from this research would determine the status of cooperative learning in Nigerian schools of architecture; reinforce the need for its adoption for effective learning and performance of students in Architectural education in Nigeria.
