Abstract:

Bauhaus today? This is a question that since 2020, following the call launched by the European Commission is on the agenda of all those interested in building a sustainable future. But, from our perspective, that of a working group at the 1st year level at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning in Cluj-Napoca, Bauhaus remains the source of inspiration for the early development of the student architect who has just joined the F.A.U. family (hence the word-play Bauhaus-FAUhaus). Bauhaus school represented an important current of ideas that spread over a century already. Principles that are the basis of today's design were there outlined, it laid the foundations for a communication between the education system and the production system, but what attracts us most is the way the school understood the development of the human being from a creative and heterogenous point of view. Today, in the 1st year Design Studio, in a continuous dialogue with the Forms Study Studio, we try to set up the base for a flexible and creative way of thinking, suitable for the field of architecture. In this paper we do not propose to develop the Bauhaus subject in its form already known as the school, but to define and explain some principles that we apply today in our academic activity, principles whose roots are linked to the Bauhaus agenda.
