Abstract:
What secrets lie hidden in the facades in the neighborhood of El Cabañal ? Can a geometric basis be found in the architectural and design richness that exists in its buildings? Is there a relationship between this seaside neighborhood and the historic center of the ancient river city that was Valencia? What is the use of technical drawing in understanding the design and art of the city? How can creativity help in the development of proposals in a technical field?
This article narrates the experience of carrying out an innovative project in the subject of Plastic, Visual and Audiovisual Education, which is contextualized in the city of Valencia, specifically in the neighborhood of El Cabañal, where the students for whom this proposal has been raised live and study.
Firstly, the students in the 3rd year of Compulsory Secondary Education will investigate the neighborhood about the ceramic designs and patterns that makes up its facades and will work with the geometric elements found, to later cooperatively develop a proposal based on the notions studied in class about technical drawing. To finish, the students will culminate the project with a ceramics workshop in which they will materialize their designs in an artisanal way. Thus, they will face the different issues raised having a practical and tangible vision of the basic knowledge activated in the different phases of this project proposed for the aforementioned subject.
With all this, the students will learn not only what was eminently worked on in the project, but also the usefulness of technical drawing in teachings such as design and architecture, and its direct relationship with art and creative thinking.
In this way, we will use the neighborhood of El Cabañal as a motivating element and the aim is to ensure that students are able to value heritage, the city and urban spaces through the experiences generated in the different activities that make up this project. Keywords:
