Abstract:
Scholars in the field of psychology have agreed that there is a relationship between the creativity of persons in the arts and sciences and their individual personalities. This has become pertinent in the training of architecture students who are in a field considered to be both an art and a science. Two questions are answered in this study. The first is: What role does personality play in the creativity of architecture students? The second question is: Which characteristics distinguish creative architecture students? These questions are answered in a survey of architecture students in Nigeria. Data were analysed using SPSS 20. Cluster analysis was first used to categorise the students into personality types. Regression and discriminant analysis were then carried out to answer the research questions. The findings are discussed and recommendations made. A study of this nature is important as it adds empirical literature from a field that is both and art and a science to the personality-creativity debate
