Abstract:
The relevance of today’s university real estate education has been thought to be miles apart from todays’ professional practice demands by many stakeholders. To ascertain the genuineness of this view, this study sought the perceptions of Estate Surveying and Valuation firms principals via a survey method. Data were analysed using simple statistical tools while data presentation was through the use of tables, pie charts and ranking. Results revealed that, although many graduates possessed relevant communication skills with a zeal to learn, yet indepth basic skills and personal values were germane for employability. The study showed that a combination of the employability attributes were not only found to secure employment opportunuities but also enhance performance in the field of real estate. Real estate education curriculum at the undergraduate level were found to be defficient in report writing, critical thinking and presentation ability. Institutions of higher learning were thus recommended to continuosly partner with the real estate industry and relevant professional bodies to promote graduate employability. Keywords:
