Abstract:

This project presents an initiative focused at promoting Maker culture and Education 4.0 in state public schools in Amazonas, developed within the scope of the More Science in School (Mais Ciência na Escola, in Portuguese) program by the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Amazonas (IFAM) Campus Manaus Distrito Industrial (CMDI). The project seeks to integrate technical knowledge with basic education through the implementation of maker laboratories, teacher training, and the provision of scholarships, aligning with national guidelines to promote digital literacy and scientific education. The methodology focuses on experiential learning and the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) approach, structured into three phases: technical training in digital manufacturing and robotics; practical intervention with mentoring by IFAM students in 30 selected teaching schools; and evaluation of results with scientific dissemination. The maker spaces are used as experimentation hubs based on the Learning-by-Doing concept, allowing students to develop projects to solve real-world problems in the region. As main results, the training of students and teachers stands out, as well as the development of low-cost assistive technologies, such as the Smart Cane and the Smart Hat for obstacle detection. This work concludes that the integration between technological institutions and basic education strengthens science teaching and promotes student protagonism through Project-Based Learning (PBL), contributing to productive inclusion and regional development of the Brazilian state of Amazonas.
