Abstract:
The growing technological advancement has created an increasing demand for professionals in the area of Technological Sciences. To meet this demand, the role of training specialized labor performed by technical and undergraduate courses in the areas of engineering and technology is extremely important. In this sense, there has been a concern to promote in basic education students a greater interest in careers in these areas, aiming to meet the needs of the world of work. One initiative that has been adopted as an alternative to increase career engagement in these areas is the work with Educational Robotics (ER). The ER gains strength because it is the application of Robotics in the pedagogical area, in order to provide students with the opportunity to create solutions aimed at the real world, in order to enable learning in a dynamic and more stimulating way. Observing this reality, we created a project called Open Door Robotics, consisting of visits by students and teachers from public schools in the Brazilian state of Amazonas to a Teaching Institution, adding the presentations of Robotics activities carried out in this institution, with the purpose of taking information about the courses offered, allowing the visitor to have a greater offer of courses when choosing what he intends to take after completing Elementary or High School. During the project's execution period, we had a total of 5 schools that visited the Institution, totaling 156 students visiting the institution. The project provided visitors with a tour of the Teaching Institution in order to learn about its structure and activities in relation to Robotics, mainly the laboratories, courses, awards already obtained by the Institution at the Brazilian Robotics Olympics (OBR) and FIRST ® LEGO® League (FLL), in addition to the ticket form. These works began in May 2019 and at least once a month, a state or municipal school visited the institution's facilities, until November 2019. As a result of this project, students were well attended and there was a high rate of students interested to study at this Institution, whether in Integrated Technical High School or Higher Education. In addition, we had students interested in area of Robotics. The results of surveys questionnaires applied to students showed that most students were satisfied and motivated, both by Robotics and by the Institution.
