Abstract:
The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in society has stirred several industries, among them the education sector. AI tools in today's learning environments are more present than ever. Nonetheless, there are several questions that academia is pressed to analyze, such as ethical use, usefulness, limitations, and threats, among other inquiries. There is a "common sense" threat among academic communities that see AI as a competition more than a complement to the education process. In this paper, we analyze:
1) professors' perception of using AI as a learning enhancer in a private institution (Tecnologico de Monterrey) in the northwestern region of Mexico. We also
2) analyzed their knowledge regarding AI and
3) the AI technologies they use in the teaching-learning process and how they apply them.

In this exploratory study, we conducted questionnaires among teachers, and semi-structured interviews. Our study aimed to understand the views on AI of academia and their overall knowledge of such. We concluded that teachers' perception of AI is mixed. However, they mostly embrace technology in their work practices to be more efficient, thus providing new research lines to explore possible ethical and labor implications.
