Abstract:
This academic year, the second episode of the digital educational escape room "Alimental, querida Watson" has been implemented. In this occasion is entitled "A Study in Blue". As in the previous chapter, the students of the elective subject "Nutrition and Dietetics", of the Degree in Medicine, must help the cleverest detective couple of all time, Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson, to solve a case of nutritional overtones. To complete the experience, the students had also the opportunity to solve the first episode: "The strange case of the green lights of the Tower of London" created the previous academic year for the same subject. In this way, professors were able to compare both episodes and assess aspects such as their utility to review the theoretical-practical concepts of the subject. Students’ participation was, once again, very high: 84.2%. In addition, 87.4% of the students found the escape room an entertaining activity and 62.9% considered it a useful tool to review the concepts explained in the lessons. The audiovisual material, created as the guiding thread of the experience, was considered very useful by 73.8% of the students.
Regarding the comparison with the first episode, most of the students expressed that "A Study in Blue" was easier to solve than "The strange case of the green lights of the Tower of London". But, in terms of entertainment, although both were well valued, 54% of the students considered this second episode more entertaining.
Therefore, we can conclude that the series of episodes of the escape room "Alimental, querida Watson" is consolidated as a valid teaching innovation tool for the subject of "Nutrition and Dietetics" and we consider the adaptation of this same format to be used in other subjects and grades.
