Abstract:
Physical Education (PE) is the field in which students acquire knowledge and skills that they will use in the future in independent Physical Activity (PA). From this perspective, the level of students' theoretical knowledge represents a field of great interest in the educational process of the PE lesson. The objective of this paper is to develop a methodology for building, validating, and standardizing a constant and stable instrument in the sense of validity and reliability with the help of which the level of theoretical knowledge in the PE discipline can be measured. Based on the guidelines of the specialized literature, 7 stages were developed that describe the steps to be followed in order to develop, validate, and standardize an instrument for measuring the level of theoretical knowledge in the PE discipline. Each of the 7 stages is scientifically argued and explained with the help of a practical application. Thus, based on the theoretical content provided by the PE textbook from Romania for the 5th grade, an example of such a tool is developed in this paper. The developed methodology can be used by both PE teachers and researchers in order to build valid and standardized tools based on different theoretical contents.
