Abstract:
Turkey’s economy mostly depends on agricultural sector rather than industry and services. Agricultural production has to be raised at least double times in Turkey because of the fast growing population In order to feed fast growing population of Turkey, in recent years, modern agricultural technologies, irrigation systems, environment friendly fertilizers, quality seeds, and agricultural credits has being applied in Turkey’s agriculture. All those inputs need to be used by knowledgeable farmers in order to get sufficient results. In Agriculture,rural women actively participated in economic life for centuries but mostly as unpaid family workers in rural area. Almost 8 millions employees work in agriculture and about 60% of them are female in Turkey. In agriculture sector, women have been striving the agricultural activities and besides their house-works. Women are drawers in agricultural development for Turkey. Also it is mainly attempts to provide an objective analysis of capacity development and strengthening women's role in agricultural.
The aim of this study is to determinate some socio-economic concepts of women in agriculture sector by applying questionnaire in Konya province of Turkey. The investigation is fulfilled relating to 3 districts which depend on Konya and 10 villages which depend on these districts what is more in the choice of this district, villages. The “Purposive sampling” method was used in selecting the villages. Soil classes, cropping pattern, livestock situation, agricultural production techniques, economic structure and distribution of farms were taken into consideration as criteria in representing the zone.
Women also accomplish lots of responsibilities such as animal care, animal feed, house work, environment, and child care and child education in addition to taking place throughout every step of the agricultural production.
