Abstract:
The main aim of this research was to examine the perception of female postgraduate students on the use of mobile learning technologies in some selected Universities in Nigeria Some other objectives included : to identify the problems inhibiting the effective use of mobile learning technologies among the selected female students , to examine the influence of gender on the perception of mobile learning technologies at these Universities ,to examine the difference in the perception of female students based on area of specialization. The study used researchers- designed questionnaire to achieve the stated objectives. On the whole, a total of 130 female students were sampled to generate information on their perception. The descriptive statistics used included the frequency count and percentages. The Analysis of variance was used to test for the stated hypothesis. The result revealed amongst others that a number of mobile devices were available for use by the female students in the selected Universities, 84.61% of the students attested to the availability of Laptop computers while 100% of the students owned and used cell phones. The results of the research also revealed that there was no significant difference in the perception of the use of mobile learning technologies based on the area of specialization of the female students. This was due to the significant value of 0.721 which was greater than α= 0.05. Based on the findings, the researchers thereby recommended amongst others that; the government should introduce a scheme in all Universities where laptops would be made available to students at affordable prices, female students should be more encouraged ,the management of various universities should make provision for more bandwidth to enable students especially female students access the internet at faster rate.
