Abstract:
Learning is ascribed as an innately social procedure through diverse strategies which has been spreading through the emerging technologies. Wiki is an emerging technology that has been surfaced through Web 2.0 technological innovation. Wiki has been broadly utilised for constructive learning because of its unique properties to education. The dawn of digital arrangement and technological growth of networks are from Web. Wiki is a product of Web 2.0, although it has the potential to complement, enhances and adds collaborative scope to learning in the classroom settings. Diverse studies explain the meaning of wiki according to their view. Since wiki has been proving as an effective teaching tool, many studies have been done in the efficacy of a Wiki as an interactive teaching tool. The lens through which pieces of literature are viewed is that Self - determination theory increase learners’ motivation, whereas, theory is hanged on the assumption that individuals can share the needs in term of competence, relatedness and autonomy. The relevance relates to educational content specifically language learning, the social learning theory. It found that Wikis technologies provides collaboration and social interaction which are perceived as the reason for learners motivation. It can be deduced that the theoretical framework presented wikis as promoting acquisition of knowledge by means of collaborative learning method. Also, ascribe to teachers the role of a facilitator. While it allow learners autonomous in learning via collaboration and finally, wikis augment motivation through self determination collaboration via social interaction. The study therefore adopted systematic approaches to review Wiki as a scholarship tool, which was patterned along its meaning, efficacy in teaching and instructional delivery.
