Abstract:
Digital tools are widely used in education, yet many platforms are designed around student accounts and structured learning environments. In everyday classroom practice, teachers often need much simpler tools that can be used immediately in front of the class to organise activities, manage participation, or introduce quick interactive moments during a lesson.

This paper describes the development of Digiklass (digiklass.ee), a web-based platform that provides a growing collection of digital classroom tools designed specifically for teachers to use during lessons. The platform combines lightweight utilities and interactive activities that support different aspects of classroom work, including group formation, activity rotation, feedback collection, games, and lesson management. Examples include tools for generating balanced student groups, managing workstation rotations with timers, creating seating plans, collecting anonymous student questions and answers and running live quizzes.

An important aspect of the project is the way the platform has been developed. Many of the applications have been created with the support of generative artificial intelligence (AI), which has been used to generate code, explore ideas, and rapidly prototype new tools. This development approach allows new classroom applications to be created quickly and iteratively in response to real teaching needs.

The paper discusses the design principles behind Digiklass and reflects on the role of AI as a practical development partner for educators who want to create their own digital tools. Examples from classroom use illustrate how small and flexible applications can help teachers organise activities, structure lessons, and support student participation without adding technological complexity.

From a research perspective, the project also explores how such tools can support teachers in orchestrating classroom activities and reducing friction when integrating digital technology into everyday teaching.

The Digiklass case highlights how AI-supported development can enable teacher-driven innovation and make it easier to create digital tools that directly address everyday classroom needs.
