Abstract:
Abstract: The today’s concept of BMSTU (N. Bauman Moscow State Technical University) policy is the development of international educational programs with 27 countries, which are the important partners of Russia in spheres of economic activity. This leads to the necessity of inventing new approaches in ESP education as a means of upbringing a new generation of a professionally mature specialist capable to easily get adapted in the multicultural global environment. The academic supposition to implement the methodology under consideration rests on the findings of cognitive psychology about the limitations of human mental abilities to gain a large amount of new information. So there comes the necessity to implement such methods which would boost students’ abilities to creative thinking. The study is based on the theoretical study of the human mentality sphere by the works of cognitive psychologists as well as the empirical data (survey, pedagogical monitoring, experimental teaching). It considers the communicatively-cognitive methodology of ESP (English for Specific Purposes) instruction the university students to two aspects of foreign language acquisition, that are: reading and listening comprehension in ESP concept. The theoretical foundation for the approach is based on the implementation of this approach in teaching comes from the idea that governs the comprehensive system of ESP curriculum including the aim, principles, the contents, means and ways (exercises and activities) in building a teaching process. The purpose of the article is to theoretically verify the implementation of the mentioned approach in ESP programs for university students to reading and listening comprehension. The method of experimental observation confirms the readiness of students to get meta-abilities for thinking. This is achieved through the use of cognitive and metacognitive strategies used by students in the activity of foreign language acquisition, which brings to the formation of interdisciplinary professionally-directed knowledge and high-level linguistic skills, necessary for their employment and intercultural interaction. We believe that the effectiveness of the method is achieved due to the features of the human psych mental nature to be applied to the processes of encoding and storing information in the long-term memory and its further extraction, which is considered to be a mechanism of gaining knowledge in the language education environment.
