Abstract:

The methodological training of language and literature trainee teachers in a university framework is primarily aimed at curriculum processing, although teaching practice is not limited to this activity. Talent management is also an important task, which can be achieved during and outside of teaching. One area of talent management is the development of performing and recitation skills, mainly in order to learn the rules and techniques of artistic text-telling/recitation. Performing and recitation skill can be put to use by studenst at poetry and prose recitation competitions, as well as the schol and other occassional cultural events. Teacher candidates may have personal experience and practice in recitation of poetry and prose from earlier stages of their lives, but their teaching work can then be effective, if they consciously apply their theoretical and practical knowledge. Ideally, all of this can be mastered in a stand-alone undergraduate course. The study shows how the teaching of artistic recitation of poetry and prose can be realized within in elective university course. It covers the procedures of proper text selection, the correct use of speech technology tools, and the transmission of the intellectual, emotional and mood message of the text. The study also highlights that university students are not only prepared for their future carriers, to support the talent of their prospective students through the knowledge and experience gained in the course, but can also use their own skills in university recitation competitions, literary programs and poetic flashmobs.
