Abstract:
Individual generational groups of employees, despite the uniqueness of individual personality features, share common characteristics, behavioural manifestations, and work preferences. There are presented results of the research VEGA Project No. 1/0348/17 “The impact of the coexistence of different generations of employees on the sustainable performance of organisations” in the paper.

The aim of the research was to identify the factors that positively influence the interaction of individual generations of employees and its use to achieve sustainable performance of organisations in conditions of multigenerational communities. The research included an analysis of selected factors and preferences of various generations of employees in the area of organising the work time, the possibility to work independently as well as work-life balance to identify the factors affecting the performance of employees from different generational groups. A valid research tool, a research questionnaire was developed for research purposes and data acquisition. The questionnaire was distributed to employees of industrial companies both in print and electronic form. The total number of respondents was 534. The data were processed using the methods of statistical analysis. The results of the research confirmed the differences of employees' expectations and their fulfilment. The paper compares the differences in the preference of work factors among individual generational groups.

The outcomes of the contribution are represented by the recommendations for executives in industrial enterprises, respecting the importance of flexibility in the work time organisation in accordance with the preferences of individual generational groups.
