Abstract:
Modern technologies focused on embedded systems can be seen as an application of the scientists’ research to practical use, especially to the industry. To support the development of these technologies, it is necessary to implement such a method of teaching that would allow a multidisciplinary effect and that would present cohesion of varied branches. That particular method could be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). According to the recent researches, application of educational method STEM brings improvement especially in students’ technological skills. Therefore, it is necessary to choose appropriate topics supporting STEM.

The Arduino technology together with problems, which involve not only electronics but also design and construction skills, is one of the possibilities that can be used in the field of the embedded systems. Our team wrote an e-textbook for high schools describing the work with Arduino, which fully implements the STEM principles. In our paper, we will describe one of the chapters, the project greenhouse, which shows the principle of operating a greenhouse by Arduino.
