Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of using e-learning model’s effectiveness for students with special needs in teaching English. The research field is the methodology of teaching and learning foreign languages. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that e-learning model is a promising direction in relation to the training of students with disabilities. The e-learning model for teaching English to students with special needs (disabilities) allows to implement not only the academic thematic blocks of the curriculum at the university, but also create opportunities for a communicative approach to learning through a linguistic environment in online teaching.

The hypothesis of the study is that in the process of teaching English to students with special needs (disabilities), it is necessary to use special technical tools and digital devices, as well as distance learning to the deep mastering the curriculum at the university. The e-learning model allows to fulfill these special requirements for such category of students. Within the framework of this model, it is also possible to use elements of an interactive approach to learning, which allows to increase the level of a foreign linguistic culture perception, to understand the basic principles of speech culture and the use of grammatical constructions of a foreign language in all speech genres.

The hypothesis has been verified on the basis of the non-philological faculties in the RUDN University. In preparing an empirical study, the author of the article used the following methods: content analysis of scientific literature; analysis of statistical data, method of comparative analysis, method of pedagogical observation.

The aim of the study is the hypothesis approbation. The objectives of the study are: the formulation of the author’s methodology of e-learning model for students with disabilities in teaching English; presentation of the data analysis results obtained during an empirical study; formulation of practical recommendations on the use of e-learning models for students with disabilities (special needs). The effectiveness of the author’s methodology for using the e-learning model is confirmed by an empirical study among students of non-philological faculties of RUDN University.
