Abstract:
This paper discusses the role of one of the main aspects in language learning in higher education institution – reading. The system of levels, used in European Union, that describes achievements of learners of foreign languages “The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assesment” notes importance of the understanding of read text with other three foundational skills of language learning: speaking, writing and listening. As bases of present research is clases with the students of the first and second courses of Spanish Philology of Kazan Federl University (Russia) who learn Spanish as the second foreign language. The authors use in their practice the reading books of the following collections: Serie América Latina, Serie Aventura joven, Collección “Venga a leer”, Collección Juvenil.es (lecturas graduadas), Colección “Leer en español”. Also they study in detail the structure of these books as well as types of reading and accompanying activities. Finally, the expediency of active use of authentic texts for practice of all types of speech activity of the student is proved.
