Abstract:
Body awareness is defined as the cognitive process that involves perception and knowledge about the structure, shape, movement and sensations of our body. Anxiety and stress are defined as the phenomena that occur in all individuals and that have the function of mobilizing us before threatening situations that we perceive in our environment. In this paper we describe an attempt to determine whether there could be a relationship between the mentioned constructs, using standardized tests to measure the levels of these in 10 voluntary university students of different nationalities, who’ve undergone training in body awareness techniques through 3 workshops, carrying out previous and subsequent measures to the workshops in the participants. This work is an exploratory study that tries to prove the existence of a relationship between the mentioned variables, and the results suggest a moderating positive effect of the body consciousness in the levels of anxiety and stress, being necessary a more extensive study to confirm the results.
