The aim of education as an academic discipline is to inculcate the right attitudes, values, habits, norms, abilities, skills and competencies, all of which help to make the individual a good functional and useful citizen and prepares him/her to play an effective role in the growth and development of a society (Ajaegbo, 2000). It is at the teacher training institutions that teachers are trained through efficient transmission of knowledge of theory into practice using different methods, techniques, strategies and skills of teaching, Teaching therefore are the various activities undertaken by a more experienced person in order to enable others learn, while learning is a relatively permanent change in behavior that occurs as a result of training or prior experience or behavior (Onwuka, 1981). The teacher is a principal and an indispensable actor in all teaching- learning situations. For learning to be effective therefore, it must attain an appreciable degree in order that good result must emerge as its products. The Cultural and Creative Arts (CCA) is an integration of Music, Arts, Drama and Dance in which a student is expected to grow into and with the cultural heritage of his people. He/she is expected to perform naturally as a product of the culture aid, appreciate and acquire the elements of his cultural heritage. All the students involved are encouraged to develop their creative skills within their cultural milieu. This paper will examine the objectives of CCA, its necessity and benefits in Nigerian primary and junior secondary schools. It will also examine the problems of implementation and recommend the way forward for the effective implementation of the Cultural and Creative Arts Syllabus in Nigerian School.
