Abstract:
Since the launch of the EHEA, there is a growing interest in the study of teaching methodologies. The studies conducted are mainly developed from the point of view of teachers, analyzing the methodologies used. However, there are fewer papers in which students are asked about teaching methodologies that considered effective for learning. Moreover, studies indicate that there is great variability in students in the learning strategies they use.

This paper aims to know the perception of university students on teaching methodologies and the impact the area of knowledge may have on them and to know the learning strategies used by college students and explore their development depending on the area of knowledge.

216 university students participated from both public and private universities and from different areas of knowledge. The instruments used to measure the variables were the CEA questionnaire to measure learning strategies (Beltran, Perez and Ortega, 2006) and a questionnaire on teaching methodologies developed ad hoc for this investigation.

The analysis of variance showed differences made by area of knowledge in the variables measured in the study.

The implications of the preferences of students on teaching methodologies and their relation to learning strategies are discussed.
