Abstract:
In the context of institutional changes, there is not only a change of the model of management in higher education, but also the reforming of professional values and roles in the teaching community, especially among young teachers. This article presents a study of the professional commitment teachers in the context of the transformation of the academic millieu over the example of the Ural Federal University. The study was conducted in 2 stages – a questionnaire survey of University teachers (N=284), expert interviews with the most successful teachers-administrators (N=17). We conducted a comparative analysis of the values and goals of professional activity of teachers of different age categories, different activities. We have revealed significant distinctive features of attitude to the profession in the groups under consideration, which allow us to speak about weakening of professional commitment as a result of strengthening of formal requirements to the organization of the educational process and limitation of academic freedom.
