Abstract:
The current study investigates the influence of students’ empowering, emotions, and involvement in studies on their satisfaction of studying. The research sample consists of 395 students studying in the second, fourth, sixth and eighth semesters at a Greek university operating in Thessaloniki. Results of principal components analysis indicate that (a) three factors characterize students’ emotions, namely pleasure, arousal and dominance, and (b) two factors characterize their involvement in their studies, namely importance and interest. Regression results show that there is an influence of empowering, pleasure, arousal and interest on students’ satisfaction of studying. These findings are discussed together with several tactics and policies that can be implemented to enhance students’ satisfaction and increase their performance at the university. These tactics and policies can also be beneficial for the university and the society at large.
