Abstract:
The European project titled: ARFAT - The Augmented Reality Formwork Assembly Training addresses health and safety (H&S) issues on construction sites. Each year the requirements of the construction market in terms of ensuring safety conditions at work are getting higher. It has become extremely important to raise the intensity and level of current training methods. An introduction of mobile devices, modern Augmented Reality technology and supporting media files contributed to much more interesting training. Over a couple of years, Augmented Reality has undergone significant transformation and refinement. Tracking modes are known as ''markers'' and are gradually being replaced by ''markerless”. Markers are visual cues which trigger the display of the virtual information, while “markerless”, also called instant tracking, does not use a marker. “Markerless” uses sensors in mobile devices to precisely recognize the real-world environment, such as the locations of walls and points of intersection. The article focuses on the use of markerless tracking in construction with regard to H&S issues.
