Abstract:
The use of educational games promotes learning, stimulus and interaction of users with special needs and the computer. The development of this type of software requires attention about the technical aspects of software engineering and others related to learning, in order to ensure the quality. There is little attention about verifying the real necessities of the user with disabilities. In this context, user with disabilities face difficulties while interacting with the software. Moreover, this ends up causing lack of interest in these users. Aiming to provide an adequate approach for user with intellectual disabilities, we propose a memory game. The game aims to teach users the alphabet and exercise cognitive skills, such as memory and concentration. This paper presents the game and an observation study. We also conducted an usability evaluation in the development process of our educational game for young people with intellectual disabilities to ensure the software quality.
