Abstract:
Learner's educational experience converge to self-paced individual and collaborative learning with digital tools, games, intelligent systems, and virtual environments more than ever before. During these experiences, each individual interaction can provide one or more learner's data points, and the system can collect a huge amount of data on learner actions. So, it is an important thing of record and track learning behavior in the learning process, it is the main phase to get an interoperable learner profile systems. To facilitate the interoperability among the architecture components and enable the integration of new ones, it is necessary a specification that describes how data are captured, stored and retrieved. In the last years, some proposals have appeared, but the Experience API (xAPI) specification, formerly Tin Can API, has emerged as the de facto standard due its simple data model and the number of vendors that have adopted it such as Moodle, Blackboard, Sakai...

This paper presents a new architecture to enhance and exchange learner’s model information between training systems using the new xAPI (Experience API) which enables intelligent use of data to continuously improve the learning experiences of learners and ensure the exchange between learning applications. The learner information is stored in a Learning Record Store (LRS) that can be common between systems and the data exchanged between applications follows our proposed learner model, which is based on the main characteristics of the existing learner model standards, Private and Public information (PAPI) and LIP ( Learner Information Package ). Our main objective in this work is to provide a process that enhance the sharing and interoperability activities of learners among all educational facilities.
