Abstract:
In this paper we apply the PLE methodology (Personal Learning Environment) for teaching courses in Computer Engineering. We describe some experiences related to the production and use of PLE resources (educational videos, blogs and social networks) for teaching technology subjects in both College and Secondary Education. In this way, we can compare the effectiveness of the methodology with students from two educational levels. The recording of the videos was made in the classroom or in the teacher's office, including the lecture notes of in which the teacher explains the theory and solves practical problems. These videos have been posted on YouTube and iTunesU channels. In the paper we discuss the different ways to record these audiovisual resources and a summary of best practices and mistakes to avoid. Furthermore, we describe the use of blogs related to the courses, and the use of Twitter accounts in order to exchange information between the teachers and students. Finally, we discuss the conclusions from these experiences and the improvement obtained in our courses.
