Abstract:
This paper presents a case study of how the entire Exam Board processes for Postgraduate taught students in the Faculty of Science at the University of Warwick were moved online.
The goal of the paper is to describe the journey from one set of systems and processes to another. The challenges being faced as a result of rapidly increasing student numbers and potential consequences for students highlighted the need for change. A project was developed to introduce a bespoke online system designed to manage the whole set of processes and provide improved accountability. Simply creating an online version of existing processes wasn't going to provide the solution; there needed to be flexibility to make adjustments as requirements changed.
The paper will explain the importance of moving away from previous methods used and the implications of moving to a fully online set of processes. The challenges that presented themselves over the project and how they were dealt with are explored and evaluated. The paper also evaluates the current situation, identifies lessons learned and makes suggestions for further development. Keywords:
Accountability, online, processes.
