Abstract:
Training of the students must meet the high quality standards of the studies. Effective training is possible when the active and interactive teaching methods are used.
A case study of the use of interactive methods in a mathematical analysis module taught to first-year university students is presented. The presentation is structured as follows:
- a review of the scientific literature on interactive methods and their application in the study process, mathematical communication (competence), self-reflection and feedback in the study process;
- in the context of the review, the objectives of the mathematical analysis module are presented, for which interactive teaching methods described in the literature have been adapted and newly created: to develop students' mathematical communication competence, collaboration, self-directed study, self-reflection and feedback skills;
- description and presentation of the developed interactive methods and examples of their use in the module;
- the results of evaluation by students of the impact of the application of the interactive methods on their understanding of the material in the module, their mathematical communication ability, their motivation for learning, and their self-reflection and feedback and feedback acceptance skills.Keywords:
Interactive teaching methods, mathematical communication (competence), motivation, feedback.
