Abstract:
The main goal of this research is to find out how the activities of popularization of mathematics in Lithuania after the restoration of independence have changed (in the period from 1990 to 2017). The following aspects of the change in the activities of the popularization of mathematics science were selected for analysis: purpose, content, methods and forms, participating organizations, target groups, sources of financing.

This research is based on the following research methods:
- the analysis of literature;
- the analysis of documents;
- the use of questionnaire.

The article presents the results of the research showing that during the period of 1990-2017 the scope of maths' popularization activities expanded, their purpose, content changed, new methods and forms appeared, more and more diverse organizations became involved. The authors of the article, based on analysis of educational policy documents, reveal the possible causes of this changes. According to the survey of active organizers and participants of mathematics popularization activities, further tendencies of development of popularization activities are highlighted.
