Abstract:
Spatial ability can be improved through appropriate practice. The spatial ability´s development must be reflected in school curricula of different degrees and types of education. Especially the early childhood care and elementary education play an important role in the development process of spatial intelligence. During the coronavirus disease teachers had to adapt their teaching methods and forms to the pandemic restrictions and move education into the online environment. In a recent study we briefly present a project of development spatial abilities of 10-12-year-old students and also deals with the first period of its implementing. The planned activities and learning materials created for elementary school teachers were not originally designed for use in distance learning environment. Due to the current situation we had to rethink and reform all the activities suitable for online learning. The process of adaptation to the virtual environment was not simple, it also required the creativity of colleagues and students as well. This paper deals with the process of recreating study materials and presents examples of student activities in mathematics and informatics. In these areas students solve tasks focused on problem-solving with planar and spatial objects, on orientation in the planar or spatial scenes and for manipulating objects. The tasks therefore focus on the development of cognitive abilities and at the same time use game principles. Keywords:
