Abstract:
The paper explores the experiences of implementing serious game based solutions in the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages, where Engineering courses are taught in either German, French or English. The courses Technology Entrepreneurship and Unternehmenssimulation (Business Simulation in German) use the business simulation game Topsim General Management in an extensive way, while other courses use various serious game based solution in smaller portions. The paper will analyze how these solutions were implemented and what was the outcome from the point of view of the teaching staff as well as from the point of view of participating students. For this purpose the paper uses interviews with the teaching staff and students, as well as an online survey with students where the number of participating students is higher, thus making an online survey more appropriate than a series of interviews. Based on this results the paper presents a case study with results and challenges for the future in selected bachelor and master programs of the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages.
