Abstract:
Within the context of interior design project system, construction phase is as important as design phase, whereby interior designer needs to polish their knowledge and skills in project management in order to manage the project. Therefore, integration and coordination system are crucially needed, for a successful delivery process. Such issues have become vital to the interior design education. Hence, in producing interior designers with managerial knowledge and skills, the education system needs to review. Yet, the industry confirms that there were many problems arise due to poor integration and coordination within the interior design project. These were believed triggered from unclear scope of work and poor of project management knowledge and understanding. The aim of this paper is to investigate the weaknesses within the interior design education syllabus regarding the project management knowledge, focusing on integration and coordination system. No doubt the process and working systems are important during design stage; however, project implementation requires strong project management knowledge and skills during practice. Document analysis will be used for this research. Data will be collected from selected six local higher institutions offered Bachelor in Interior Design. Expected data derives from the analysis will be compared to confirm the existence of integration and coordination systems in interior design practice.
