Abstract:
The paper considers the role that the quality of the cross-cultural communication plays within the professional and personal communicational processes at the joint ventures, where the partners from different companies have to deal with misunderstanding due to the differences in cultures and language. These types of miscommunication are able to cause economical losses at the production site. As the data show, nowadays the joint companies with the foreign capital play the biggest role at the creating a stable economy. The methodology of the research is based on the thorough literature review that is followed by the empirical part – the survey carried out among the employees working at joint companies (case study - free economic zone in Tatarstan, Russia). As a result of the study we present the main reasons and backgrounds of misunderstanding between the parties and study the consequences of it. According to the analysis the challenges in maintaining efficient communication are based on the differences in perception of some key elements of the business communication. These differences are supported by culture, traditions, geographical features and etc. The diversity of the cultures involved in the business processes has to be accepted as the asset not the obstacle in the modern globalized world. Thus there is an urgent need to deeply analyze these processes, classify the challenges and look for the solutions. The results of the survey and the analysis let the authors outline the options for tackling the challenges of intercultural communication. Education according to the results of the survey plays a key role in process of tackling these the identified challenges. Different ways of training can be chosen according to the needs and realities of different joint ventures. Ignoring the educational aspect of maintaining the comfortable and professionally ethical intercultural dialogue might cause different types of losses for the enterprise. To support the results of the study the authors have also analyzed and presented the international experience of the joint projects that failed to succeed due to the inability to introduce the efficient communication.
