Abstract:
Close contact of languages finds its expression in creation of new notions, culture specific elements, and consequently, the new nominations. The research of borrowings and foreign words is being actively held by many scientists today.
In this paper the authors study the appearance and the development of anglicisms in the Russian language on the material of diachronous translations made in XVIII-XIX cc. The authors investigate the main features of English borrowed words in the Russian literature, the frequency of their use and the peculiarity of their assimilation through the comparative analysis. Translations of works of English writers such as D. Defoe ‘Robinson Crusoe’, J. Swift ‘Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, in Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of several Ships’, W. Thackeray ‘Vanity Fair’ made at different periods of time were the source material for this paper. The outcomes of this research can be employed at universities for training purposes and further investigations in the fields of science related to this topic.Keywords:
